Dear indelible life loving creator Sara,
Years ago, I met the legendary Dr. Maya Angellou at age 16 and she gifted me worlds that were an ignition switch towards my path as an author, leading to the creation of Succulent Wild Woman.
This is a photo of me at age 40, in the Bahamas - 2 years before I published this book at age 42. Then, I kept publishing a book each year for many years. This image captures a moment of reflection and the cusp of a creative explosion that would ultimately define my career as an author.
This was AFTER procrastinating for 25 years, having written my first book at age 10, and then publishing my first book at age 35..
Many years later I asked Maya to endorse this book, and she enthusiastically said yes. After I'd gotten to know her personally, she said to me in her magnificent booming voice;
"SARK books are cross generational, like mine are, and they must continue to serve succulence to all the generations."
And so they do
This is what writing and sharing our words and stories can do- lift and illuminate another's life. I love writing and sharing the spirit of SARK and continue to be inspired by Maya in all ways.
