Dear dear dearest Sara, Here in America we all experience this horrifying reality in our own, yet similar ways- we write and wail and cry in our beds and feel hopeless and numb or desperately, relentlessly sad. For the killing of children and people in school in Uvalde, Texas. For the last shooting in Buffalo and the ones before that. And the ones to come. We are in devastation. And we can connect there. We can refuse to look away, turn away or be away. We can share our love, speak, teach, write, express, care, comfort, donate, vote. We can pray and be present. We can hold space for all the pain and keep the space open. We can recognize our utter hopelessness and helplessness and connect there too. We can connect in our grief. We must. In our collective grief there is power, even though the results are not immediately seen. I send us all the willingness to feel and share being devastated and let that move us forward.
